Basic Filming Tips.

Whatever it is you need to do before the game, make sure you’re ready to film for an extended period of time.
If possible, setup on the sidelines from an elevated viewing point. Also, if possible, ensure your camera is level, and there isn’t anything in your way.
Use a Tripod with a fluid head, if possible.
Try to film in 1080P 60fps or higher, but 720P at 30FPS will do, if absolutely necessary.
Take some shots to test your equipment and ensure everything is working properly.
Keep one eye on the shot, and one on the play.
Follow the play, keeping the ball in the middle of your shot as best you can.
Stay ahead of the play mentally, and anticipate what’s coming next so you can prepare your angle.
Always zoom in slowly and steadily.
Along with slow zooming, smooth and steady movements and panning will look best. Fast and jerky movements are very distracting.
If you ever lose the play, zoom out until you find it, then slowly zoom in again.
Only film active play. Start recording 5 seconds before each play starts and stop 5 seconds after each play ends.
If you’re filming one athlete, only film when they are in the game. No need to gather extra footage to review in the editing process.
